Lone Ridge Outfitters, LLC was built by Steven James and his wife Kim. Steven has been a Professional Licensed Guide for many years contracting with multiple Outfits here in Utah and Idaho. He started Guiding Upland Game and Predator Hunts for a Private, Members Only Club in Central Utah at the age of 15. He spent most of his days at the Ranch guiding Pheasant, Chukar and Exotic Bird hunts, as well as Coyote and Fox hunts. He was taught the ropes by some older Guides, and this ultimately started his love and goal of becoming a Big Game Guide. Steven joined the US Army at the age of 17 where he spent 8 years serving his country as an explosives expert and mechanic. He started out his guiding career while he was in the Army, and guided as much as he could with the time he had. Towards the end of his military career, Steven was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, which ultimately ended his career. He then decided he wanted to pursue his dream of guiding full time.
That's where his wife Kim played a huge part in achieving the goal. When asked, Steven will often say, "If you want to know what being a Guide is like, talk to a Guides Spouse!". This couldn't be more true. Kim has been there with Steven through all the trials and tribulations of establishing his career. Growing up in Montana, Kim was able to join along on many hunts with her older brothers and eventually started hunting herself. In the many years coming, she became a proficient Bowhunter and will often join Steven on hunts, or pick up her bow and hunt on her own. In the off season, Kim helps Steven scout for clients, helps manage bookings and often times will come up to camp and cook some of her famous Dutch Oven meals for the entire camp! On top of all that, she still manages to take care of their children and home! She is the ultimate dream woman for any hunter! She not only helps Steven with guiding clients, but is more than qualified to take out clients herself. This is why when LRO was created, it was the only right decision to have Kim become the Owner of the Outfit! She helped establish the company, she helped design the logo and she even chose the name. She has earned her place as being the Queen of LRO!!
